Messages

Go to Chat widget > Messages to choose what the chat says on each page of your store. Messages are on Growth and Pro.

Popup message#

A short message next to the chat button. It appears 2.5 seconds after the page loads. A tap opens the chat. Shoppers can close it, and it stays closed for the rest of their visit.

   You get 3 ideas based on your active Shopify discounts. Select Use to put one in the box.

Scheduled messages#

Open Advanced options to add up to 7 more messages. Give a message a start and end date to show it only between those dates, for a sale or a holiday. Messages without dates take turns, one a day. Your main message shows when nothing else applies.

Update automatically#

Turn on Update automatically and pick the Shopify discounts to include. A new message is written each day from those discounts. It describes the offer, not the code. Shoppers get the code by asking the assistant.

Match the popup to the page#

On by default. Product, collection and store pages get a popup of their own, like "Questions about Wool Beanie?" on a product page. Store pages need to be in your Knowledge base first.

Conversation starters#

Questions shoppers tap to start a chat. Up to 4 show on a page.

• Select Add starter to write your own, up to 80 characters each and 20 in total.
• Turn a starter off to hide it without deleting it.
• Use Suggested for every page to add ready-made ones.

With no starters, shoppers see the default questions, like "What do you sell?".

Change a page's message#

Give one page, or a kind of page, its own popup and starters.

   Search your products, collections and store pages, choose a kind of page like All product pages or Cart, or enter an address like /pages/faq.

   Choose This page or And pages under it

   Write the Popup message and add Conversation starters

   Leave the message empty to keep the usual popup.

   Select Done, then Save

You can add up to 50 pages. When more than one applies, the exact page wins, then the closest page above it, then the kind of page.

Messages it starts#

The assistant writes first when a shopper does something. Each is off until you turn it on. It sends at most two per visit.

Each comes with example text you can change, up to 140 characters.

Which message shows#

On any page, the chat shows the first of these that applies:

   Your own message for that page, from Change a page's message.

2. 2

   The matched message, if Match the popup to the page is on.

3. 3

   Today's scheduled or automatic message, or your main popup message.
